The Woodland Collection: A Story Years In The Making
I had the absolute pleasure of creating this beautiful new Woodland Collection, and it came with a mission close to my heart.
Several years ago, a group of my Supper Club friends gathered for a photo shoot to launch our Mary Alice x For Pete’s Sake Pottery collaboration. We met at the enchanting Storybook Inn in Versailles, Kentucky—a venue so charming it practically feels plucked from a fairy tale. With its arched wooden doors and stone walls, it quickly became the backdrop not only for that shoot, but for several other parties later featured in The Supper Club by Lydia Menzies book.
The moment I saw that arched wooden door and stone wall, I could picture it perfectly: a whimsical mushroom-themed party, right there.
Fast forward a bit—Lydia wrote her book, and we were all honored to be included. When I shared my vision for a Woodland theme, she loved it and agreed to style the shoot. I truly can’t imagine a better person to bring this collection to life. Lydia has an incredible eye and an intuitive way of telling stories through tablescapes.
With her on board, I went all in—painting mushrooms, woodland plates, a cake plate, and the most darling mushroom lanterns, which now sit happily alongside my Village-themed lanterns.
And then came the magic of friendship.
My Supper Club friends went above and beyond to make this table unforgettable:
- Lauren Jacobs of The Cheerful Baker created the most beautiful mushroom-themed cookies to perfectly match my lanterns.
- Thomas Ard of TomTom and Company designed our place cards and menus.
- Carrie of Elizabeth Delfine Embroidery made the most magical embroidered cocktail napkins.
- Laura Jacobs of The House of Hanbury brought stunning vintage red glasses that tied everything together.
- Libby Britt of The Cape Cottage Company made the incredible gingham table skirt—I am obsessed with these.
- And Adam Kuehl, our amazingly talented photographer, captured it all so beautifully.

This Woodland party is featured in The Supper Club with Lydia Menzies – Premier Issue.
I’m still pinching myself that my art was included in Lydia’s book and Premier magazine. The issue sold out before it even hit mailboxes, with over 60,000 copies sold. I’m hopeful there will be a reprint, but in the meantime, I highly recommend subscribing so you don’t miss Issue Two, coming out in July.
And who knows… I may have a few more photo shoots in that issue as well. 😉
For now, I hope you enjoy our Woodland Theme Collection.
And keep an eye out—the little mushrooms are coming soon 🍄✨
